Pros
Overall, this company realizes the perks that scribing offers. Namely, for those looking to go to medical school, it provides real world, hands on experience on the front lines of medical care. Depending on if you are working at academic medical center/affiliate, it can definitely give you some great contacts as well. However, none of this stuff you could not get from shadowing/volunteering. The cons FAR outweigh the pros.
Cons
This company realizes there is a glut of desperate pre-meds out there and exploits this fact to the fullest. Salaries are abysmal. Moreover, promised raises are NOT paid as delivered. Namely, after 3 months of employment (as stipulated in the contract they hurriedly have you sign), you should go up from $8 to $10 an hour. In my case, it took 4.5 months for no apparent reason. Expect to work holidays (often not being paid overtime wages like the rest of the employees) and realize you will be at the bottom of the totem pole. Scheduling is also overall quite erratic.
