Pros
Formerly Dot Hill, the Cloud Systems group is doing some amazing work in storage tech. The people are phenomenally talented and intelligent. The middle management is excellent. This creates great work, keeps the pressure off for deadlines. Very worker friendly policies such as flexible times, working from home and unlimited PTO. Good benefits - 401k, bonuses. Restricted Stock and ESPP generates a lot of wealth quite fast.
Cons
* They got better as I left but product releases very crazy chaotic. * Seagate taking over Dot Hill did a lot of good things to the stock and benefits but really messed up the small company nature. * We survived for several years and rode out recessions without laying off anyone but Seagate came in and laid off beloved and veteran employees just for their bottom line. We went from family to anyone is replaceable in 1 year. * Open recs never get filled. Upper management knows that they can squeeze more out of engineers and force middle management to keep chugging along with what they get. I honestly feel bad for some of them. * It's tiring to play second fiddle to the drive department which is always ailing and doing poorly. The Cloud Systems group is profitable but has to bear layoff costs when the rest of the company struggles.
