Pros

I can work alone, which I personally prefer. If it's a nice day, I can work outside on the property. I'm not tied to a computer. I can get on a friendly, first name basis with my tenants and gain their trust. Aside for certain reports being due by certain times, I'm pretty free to build my own schedule, as long as I get done the things that are required by me on a day to day basis. I get a full hour for lunch which is nice. They give you a full month schedule in advance, which can be good and bad but if you have a good area manager, they will work with you if you need to tweak your schedule a bit.

Cons

They allow absolutely no overtime. If you're stuck working until after close because of a new tenant, for example, they make you come in late the next day to make up for it. They're usually short staffed so it's hard when you have to call out because of a sick child or some other sort of emergency. They basically want you here all the time. I understand that but when it gets in the way of children, it gets a bit stressful. You're not always given the correct tools to do the job, or you're required to do things outside of your scope of work. A lot of equipment, such as camera, etc., are extremely outdated. Area managers want to make the necessary improvements but it's the corporate office that doesn't want to spend the money. Some days you feel like you have to jump through a million hoops to get anything fixed. In the meantime you have tenants that are jumping your case when your hands are tied. The do offer insurance but you typically have to jump through a million hoops to find out who the provider is because it's some weird company that I've never heard of before. It's not a major carrier like Aetna or United Healthcare for example. They worry more about being sued than they do the safety of their employees. If you get robbed at gun point, not only do they not want you to carry for your own protection, but if the robber attacks you, they do not want you to fight back. They fear that if you injure the robber, they will be sued.

Pros

Internal promotions, good pay at start, easy job, good team

Cons

People I trained were told they would receive a place to live but didn’t and were homeless due to it. People who are hired after you will make more than you even at base level
