Pros
Within the design team, when it existed, there was encouragement and collaboration and advocation for the users. Experience and research was well utilized, and feedback was constructive and acted on appropriately. The design team, in partnership with engineering, was as ideal as it could be.
Cons
Outside of the design team, specifically among upper management, it was "my way or the highway." Any dissension, no matter how researched, data-proven, or user-studied was met with "but that's not how I would use it." Management's lack of understanding of product development and design is a large hindrance on the company.
