Pros

Semantic Arts is small, but growing as fast as we can find qualified ontologists. We have been a fully remote-work company since well before the pandemic. We work in small teams on a per-client basis, but maintain a cohesive approach overall. The company is almost radically transparent about wages, company earnings, etc. Work-life balance is a real thing (not just lip service): everyone gets 4 weeks PTO from the get-go (no slow creeping increments for X years on the job). 45-plus-hour weeks are rare. Each employee is allotted an annual education allowance for classes, conferences, etc. We are encouraged to attend not only data conferences, but also ones which might be of importance to clients (health care, finance, etc.).

Cons

Because of SA's size, health insurance is expensive. (This should improve a little, as we get more insured employees on board.) This is the sole reason I give 4 stars in the Ratings. The team needs more diversity. It's gotten better and is a hiring focus, but there's definitely still room for improvement.

Pros

Strong leadership and culture. Knowledgeable and respectful colleagues. Flexible work schedule and PTO policies.

Cons

Remote work can feel isolating at times, but SA does a good job of counteracting this with online social gatherings and in-person summits in Fort Collins.
