Pros
•We used to have flexible schedule in the off season (late September/early October-late June) •In the off-season, anyone could take vacation whenever they wanted, as long as you had the hours. (No seniority system) •Before I left, mechanics were still scheduled Monday-Thursday, 40 hour weeks. •Benefits were great, they’re still very good. •If you’re a decent person and a good worker, you’ll get along fine with the other mechanics. It almost feels like a brotherhood during the season.
Cons
Say goodbye to your summers for as long as you work here. •work 12 hour shifts atleast 6 days out of the week, up to you if you want to work 7 days. •nature of the industry means there’s not a lot of money to distribute into maintenance budgets. •the summers can feel like they’re forever, after a couple of years you get used to it. •management can be hard-headed, but understanding at the same time.
