Pros

- I have learned so much in the time I've spent at Sensibill. Everyone on the team is smart, passionate, and keen to share their knowledge, and as we work quite cross functionally, you can't help but absorb some of that knowledge. It's a good feeling to come in and not just do the stuff you're interested in but also learn something about a totally different field or domain. - There's a sense of true autonomy here. You're given a mandate and a direction, then allowed to run. Sometimes that's scary and I've definitely made some mistakes in my time here. It would have been easy to take that in the most negative way possible but I think with the support of the people around me I've used those experiences to become a better professional. - The people here are funny. Seems silly writing it out in a Glassdoor review but it's true and for me, a huge plus. Everyone has a good sense of humour and there's a real joy in coming in to that kind of environment - for me at least. - My personal experience with the leadership team has been really great. They're honest, transparent, and optimistic about the future of the company. The sense I've gotten is that of people trying their absolute best to build a good company. Are they infallible? Of course not. But then again, neither am I. - In my time here I've seen people move from the Marketing team to the Product team, from working solely on the Android side of things to dabbling in AND learning about iOS development, from being an individual contributor to leading a team. This flows from that idea of autonomy. You're really allowed to forge your path and grow your career the way you see fit. (Previous reviews have called out the Talent and Culture team for posting fake reviews. Not sure where that is coming from. Full disclosure, I'm on that team and this is my first time posting here in over a year. And just like any other employee, we have personal opinions on the places we work at. This is mine.)

Cons

- It's a company that's still forging an identity as it grows and scales. As such, a lot of process that you might find at a more mature and "stable" company doesn't necessarily exist here. That's not to say that no one is working on it, but the reality is that sometimes certain business needs take precedence. - As I mentioned earlier, if you don't like making mistakes, you won't like it here. There's a lot of onus placed on the individual contributor, and though there's mentorship, guidance, coaching, and all of that available, you are ultimately responsible. You can take that as an opportunity to grow or you can internalize it more negatively. Neither way is right or wrong in my opinion, just different. - There's historically been a sense that middle management has been lacking here. i.e. not enough managers to manage the teams doing the work. I think that that's a fair criticism, but things have been trending the right way over the past 6 to 12 months. It's not easy building high performing teams in a tech ecosystem like Toronto's. Sensibill's competing with every other tech company for the same, limited pool of talent. With a new VP, Engineering, Dev Managers, and Senior Devs joining us over the past few months, that perceived gap between the executive team and the front-line is closing. - No dogs/cats in the office.

Pros

The people I worked with were some of the best people I've come across in the industry so far. Self directed, creative and humble. They were very supportive and I learned a lot from them.

Cons

I think the biggest con is the shaky product market fit, but if the team keeps at it something will stick. One important ingredient for the company to succeed would be to control data acquisition pipeline and not depend upon partners in the b2b spectrum as a sole mechanism.

With regards to market fit, Sensibill is passionate about and excited by growth in clients who are solving small business pain points, and the hand we’ve had in assisting them in that space.

Pros

I've worked at Sensibill for almost two years now and it has been such a refreshing experience. Everyone is working towards the same goal and that cohesiveness makes for a great working environment. I've worked at other places where people are playing politics games and trying to get ahead of each other but at Sensibill it's understood that the way we move forward is by doing what's best for the company and our clients. We also have some great talent and I feel like I can trust my peers skillsets but also I can trust that their intentions are for the best and they want to help each other and the company succeed. I also wanted to call out how impressed I am with the diversity at Sensibill. You will rarely see this company waving a flag about how diverse they are but they live it. We have people from all walks of life and representation from so many different cultures. But the most important thing is that Sensibill strives to empower each employee and encourage them to use their experience and bring their own ideas to the table.

Cons

Sensibill is a startup in a niche market. There's a lot of obstacles to overcome in the industry and limited resources and startup grinding can make things difficult. We have been expanding our product line which is great but after having had just one product for so long it takes time to build up the right momentum.
