Pros
- You play, learn and teach all things skincare & makeup. - Part of your uniform is wearing make up. - You meet new people everyday. - You're educated on the latest and greatest products, tools & techniques. - There is always something new to learn & teach. - It's a challenging and inspiring career. - Welcomes diversity and listens to our varying ideas & concerns. - Management develops staff to move forward with company whether Sephora or JCP side. - Ability to request days off without management making you feel bad for having a life beyond the black tile.
Cons
- Some employees confuse recognizing high achievers as favoritism. - No set schedule, lots of evenings and weekends (It's RETAIL FOLKS!) - No option to order out of stock products for upcoming shipments. - I lowballed my pay due to fearing I would be passed up for requesting pay representing my experience. When I received a promotion in turn I received bottom dollar. Lesson learned. :D - Labels low performers and doesn't invest effort & time in turning them around. (I know it's a business & not babysitting. I think we can do better as a team to uplift those struggling, instead of giving up.) - To advance you must learn the numbers & business metrics which can be difficult with limited office time to navigate the system.
