Pros

None I can think of.

Cons

I was head of ethics for Serco AP in 2024. My role was to promote adherence to Serco’s code of conduct and ethics. During my time I dealt with hundreds of complaints by employees of bullying, dishonest practices, racism and sexual harassment. Most complaints related to the conduct of mid and senior tier executives. My observations were Serco are entirely profit driven and have little to no regard for their employees at all. Their code of ethics is a marketing tool and they do not adhere to it in any way. Complaints are routinely ignored and no action is taken, even where the majority of complaints were credible or sbtantiad. I was fired without warning 6 months into my role for advocating for employee rights and cultural change. The management were completely disinterested and unprincipled. Bullying and abuse was rife. It was my worst employment experience by far in my 30 year career.

Pros

You get to directly impact clients' success. "Decent" pay for the location.

Cons

Leadership will shift blame onto teams instead of taking accountability for their own shortcomings, and Program Managers won't take the time to seek clarification, leading to misinformed decisions and unfair outcomes. They are more focused on internal politics and protecting their seat than recognizing or rewarding actual contributions. You can work hard for years with consistently strong performance and still be passed over for promotion in favor of someone who has built the right relationships with management, even if the have not proven themselves yet. Support is subpar. Employees often spend more time troubleshooting issues themselves than receiving timely or effective assistance.
