Pros
-Flexibility in scheduling. -Hands off management (this is generally a pro, but my manager is so hands off she truly knows nothing about me or my goals) -Easy, boring, repetitive work
Cons
-Departments are incredibly siloed so there's limited opportunities to network into a better position. Most positions aren't posted, but you'll see people on Linkedin promoted to new positions. -Quarterly layoffs that are not communicated to other departments. -My managers are horrifically underqualified and because they can't see themselves in a better position, they don't see how their direct reports may be qualifed for different career paths. -The pay is embarrassingly low with no cost of living increase in the five years I've been here. I make about 50 cents more than a McDonalds employee but handle people's medical records? -Accounts are constantly being off loaded to AI ("going digital") or India based ("global") workers.
