Pros
Compensation is competitive and most of management are made up of decent people who care. Upper management has had great foresight in navigating this horrible economy
Cons
Nepotism, political correctness, and reverse discrimination. If you are friends with the right director there is literally NOTHING you can do to lose your job. Doing the right thing and ethics compliance are preached as it should be. Unfortunately, at least in my limited experience, it is just talk. Doing the right thing can be expensive to the career of the one doing it if it conflicts with your superiors. HR is NOT to be trusted. If you are over 50 a Caucasian, and male get comfortable where you are. You're not going anywhere even if you get your degree.
