Pros

As a part timer for 2 1/2 plus years, I greatly enjoyed my time here. It's wonderful for a part time college job that doesn't pay minimum wage. The company cares about you as a part timer and training you right. If you are interested after you graduate (if you are a college student) the MTP program is a wonderful and logical next step. Paid time off (I got 40 paid hours a year as a part timer, which is awesome) 401K benefits (Again as a part timer, which is awesome!) Flexible schedule since there aren't to many people at one store. The manager or assistant manager makes the schedule themselves, not some computer program like larger retail locations.

Cons

Upper management (above the district level) is somewhat disconnected from the behavior of contractors. Part timers (at least where I work) were told to start doing 5 calls to contractor a week. Many contractors don't care to get calls, let alone from part timers that they mostly view as order takers (unless you've been there for a couple of years like myself and earned their respect).

Pros

A positive work environment. The best co-workers I have had so far in my career worked with me at Sherwin. I also worked under an amazing management team. There is a lot of room for career growth. I worked for Sherwin for about 3.5 years. I started as a contracted lab technician, then I was hired full time as an R&D Associate Chemist. I quickly worked my way up to R&D Chemist within a year of being hired full time. The department I worked in was very fast paced, however, I know there are many other groups that move at a much slower pace with longer timelines. This would make it much easier to manage the workload.

Cons

Working with marketing was challenging at times. We would regularly receive big requests a day before they needed something. This would pose a challenge when you had other priorities to attend to. The pay was average. I do think it could have been slightly higher for all of the job responsibilities given to the chemists in my group specifically. The workload was overwhelming at times.
