Pros
Get to learn a lot about paint. Benefit from getting heavy discounts on paint and supplies, sometimes its even free when we mess up paint. You will make a lot of friends. Fairly easy job, not too demanding on the physical body. A lot of down time depending on the store you work at. Some stores are super slow and others are ridiculously busy.
Cons
48 hour work weeks. Required to make sales calls with a set minimum every week. Personally hated calling customers that didn't want to give me the time of day to help save them money on paint. There's no such thing as a break/lunch. If you heat up some food and 10 customers walk in right when your about to chow down - guess what? You have to help them first due to the relatively small staff all stores have. During sales calls - we are to push commercial account applications towards reluctant customers that rarely ever have good credit standing or want an account. Upper management sets unrealistic sales goals and other objectives like capturing customer emails every month. (Most painters are old school guys that don't even have a smartphone/computer. How do you expect us to capture their email?)
