Pros

I learned great skills for selling, managing, and corporate hierarchy. Lot of movement in the company because senior employees are retiring after 30 years.

Cons

Senior managers and sales reps are retiring which leaves a vacuum in the company. This makes it easy for young managers and sales reps to move up quickly with little to no experience. City level management does little to none one on one training with their managers and reps. And when numbers are down, they blame the employee and not themselves. On top of that, everyone argues about product and sales as it is an all on your own type of environment. Very few employees help each other out, and it turns into the good ol boys environment where only certain people help each other out and if you aren't in the clique, you're screwed. Once you're comfortable in your position, they ask you to take another position in the company, leaving all your customers behind. The customer to manager and rep relationships have gone out the door because there are new reps and managers every two years now. It is really SAD where this company is heading. I actually loved working for them, but upper management has really screwed up how they are running the company in the last two years. Between covid and insane product shortages, there is a lot of disgruntled employees. Most of those employees won't leave because of benefits and the job security that Sherwin gives a person. It might be one of the hardest companies to get fired from.... As a store manager, you better make sure you think a candidate is qualified before hiring them because otherwise that person will be with the company until they want to quit because there are so many loopholes to jump through to fire an employee (which is good, but also can be bad).

Pros

easy job with little work load and decent customer base

Cons

they cut my 401k for 6 months with no mention of when it was coming back, terrible CEO that everyone hated who cut jobs to save money for a new headquarter that we absolutely did NOT need, bought a random argentinian paint company to monopolize an already dying business and put the cost back onto the consumer by charging way more for paint. They also give discounts to national brands and apartment complexes that are literally less than what the store charges for paint and forces us to sell to them, losing money in the process ( for the individual stores but making them money since they own the whole manufacturing and distribution process and up-charge stores for products they require us to sell ). Overall climbing up the ladder is easy but upper management suck and will make any good hearted, hardworking manager quit in the long run.
