Pros
Great benefits, even for part-timers. I had great store management, both store manager and assistant store manager. I liked playing with the color chips lol, you get to do (and name!) custom paint/stain matches, which is cool! The company has frequent events throughout the stores, like display challenges, and they do make sure you are safe and well-trained in your position. My coworkers and I were all really cool and friendly, so that was a huge benefit! The employee subreddit is a major bonus and source of enjoyment, too.
Cons
The company takes itself way too seriously, enforces ridiculous dress codes (can’t have too much paint on your clothes/shoes for workers— IN A PAINT STORE—, must be near business casual, etc… dude, we are making and hauling paint all day, no), you are constantly having to do training courses (also a benefit, but some won’t like that), people somehow lose all of their IQ points when buying paint for their homes, you will have to break the news to people that they’re colorblind (I really wish I was joking, I’m so sorry I’m not), counting and stocking (especially the 2x/year whole store days, yikes), paint recycling/customers NOT understanding what “full, sorry” means or that certain things can’t be recycled… okay, honestly, just go look at the Sherwin-Williams subreddit before working there, it will help.
