Pros

Drive a company vehicle, you get to be on the road daily, meet various people, Mon-Fri schedule with no random OT, all while on an early first shift (0615-0215+).

Cons

This section is extremely long, so I will keep it to the main offenses/severe problems: 1. Affirmative action based promotion(s) and/or punishment(s) for respective employees. This creates a massive double standard and a highly toxic workplace with no accountability or respect for management. 2. Severe lack of compensation based upon actual work (i.e. commission). When only sales gets the end financial results of the work of other parties, again, a generally envious work environment is what ensues. 3. Complete lack of drug testing and/or criminal background checks. I know this firsthand. I was involved in a auto accident (other driver cited), but was not drug tested, per policy. It seems all policies in this arena have been abandoned in the name of having a semi-conscious person in the position. This will inevitably result in a serious accident and at fault injury and/or death. 4. A complete lack of opportunity for those who seek a career in blue collar fields; along with a general sense of disdain for the fact that one would even choose physical work (accompanied by, of course, a severe lack of pay).

Pros

A positive work environment. The best co-workers I have had so far in my career worked with me at Sherwin. I also worked under an amazing management team. There is a lot of room for career growth. I worked for Sherwin for about 3.5 years. I started as a contracted lab technician, then I was hired full time as an R&D Associate Chemist. I quickly worked my way up to R&D Chemist within a year of being hired full time. The department I worked in was very fast paced, however, I know there are many other groups that move at a much slower pace with longer timelines. This would make it much easier to manage the workload.

Cons

Working with marketing was challenging at times. We would regularly receive big requests a day before they needed something. This would pose a challenge when you had other priorities to attend to. The pay was average. I do think it could have been slightly higher for all of the job responsibilities given to the chemists in my group specifically. The workload was overwhelming at times.
