Pros

This is really an entry-level position into pharma sales. There are good territories to have depending on coverage and bonuses are pretty good. There is a company car and as long as you preform above quota they leave you alone and it is an easy job.

Cons

If you are not trending to make your quota in one quarter (even if you have ALWAYS exceeded it) you are put on a PIP. That means that you are basically fired but they use it to phase you out. Almost twice yearly since 2007 there have been massive lay offs due to "reorganization." The DM's mostly are corporate puppets who do what they need to do to keep your job. If you have more than a year of pharma experience and are in a territory that is vacant due to a previous employee being laid off due to performance........RUN DO NOT WALK anywhere else. Drugs are not really covered in most territories and no one wants to pay tier 3 prices in this economy.....LOOK them up before you accept the position.

Pros

Shionogi has a genuinely supportive culture with strong leadership and approachable senior management. The teams are collaborative, mission-driven, and focused on doing meaningful work that impacts patients. There's a real sense of respect, trust, and flexibility, and leadership encourages professional growth and cross-functional learning.

Cons

As the company continues expanding, some processes are still evolving, which can create occasional ambiguity, but leadership is receptive to feedback and actively improving structure and communication.
