Favoritism shown to those that have been friends with upper managment, those are the people that move up in distribution. There is a lot of gossip that goes on and upper management listens to it and bases their opinion of you on what they hear about you no matter how good of a job you do. Upper management doesn't discipline or terminate lower management when they do something against company policy. People that have been there longest are allowed to get away with anything.
