Pros
You get a good number of Vacation / personal days each year. Most people at Shopify are decent people.
Cons
Tons of turnover within leadership of the support organization. In 2024 alone I had 6 different bosses, and multiple team changes due to constant internal organization changes. When I did have a boss for more than a month or two, meetings on career growth and my current work were practically non existent, with my quarterly review that ultimately got me laid off being written by someone I had only met once virtually for less than 30 minutes. In 2024 I was sent to work on an in person project, what they did not tell us until we were there was these people we were helping onboard were going to be our replacements as they dissolved the team I was on once the project was over. Shopify doesn't care about their support organization and that's why they pushed so hard to outsource their support staff now. Support and the rest of the company are like two different companies. Don't expect to ever see anything sent your way that the rest of the organization gets (events, team meetups, free stuff). And we can't forget that the entire organization closes for a week to go party while support continues to work away, with just a handful of support workers being selected to go join the fun. This is because the only support related work events were moved from in person to virtual and eventually removed all together. When I joined Shopify in the beginning of 2019, it was an awesome place. However it is not that anymore, especially within the support organization.
