Pros

Reasonable Compensation structure and nice location

Cons

I was employed at Shurwest for six years and all in all, it was an extremely difficult, negative work environment. There is no direction from a management prospective, and when they do manage its out of fear. They do not want your feedback or your opinion. The primary owner of Shurwest is proud to let you know that this is a "his way or the hwy environment". We were constantly understaffed, because you can't employ anyone due to their unreasonable personality indicator. Its ironic, everyone they hire has to have the same type of personality according to the PI (it doesnt matter if you are sales or service). At best, 1 in 10 pass the test and their turn over is tremendous due to the environment. The caddiness of the employees make you feel as though you are still in high school. There is a "boys club" built into Shurwest, and if you arent part of that club, you aren't anyone. There are no raises and no opportunity for job transition, advancements, or even lateral moves. Once you start, that is all you will ever do. They attempt to offset that factor by their bonus structure, but it hardly makes up for it. Eventually, everyone leaves. When you ask management for something, you feel as though you are getting "sold" a response. Ultimately, it becomes a bed of empty promises. Furthermore, there is absolutely no thinking outside the box or change for growth or improvement. Most disconcerting is their clear bias against various races and gender. In the years I worked there, Shurwest was involved in more than one EEOC claim. I have had much reflection time since exiting Shurwest and I now see how truly broken it is. I stayed as long as I did due to compensation and caring for a family but I now hope to shed some life on the nature of this company.

Pros

Tons of perks, great benefits, and great holiday parties. They do push you to work as if you own your own business.

Cons

Management is inconsistent, hypocritical, and lack overall leadership qualities. Fear is the most commonly used management tactic. There is blatant favoritism and lack of transparency. They make up new rules every quarter on how compensation will change. This company is run like a start-up versus a 30+ year-old organization. The moral compass on some employees does not exist and the office feels more like a high school freshman locker room at times. The team mentality and family culture really disappeared over recent years. It wasn't always like this.
