Pros

Used to be a good place to work until the current President of healthcare in North America destroyed morale

Cons

Siemens balances their budget on the backs of their field service engineers, I am making the same now as I was 4 years ago due to them cutting bonuses, eliminating double time on Sundays, and not paying OT. So they can give more money to their shareholders they started forcing us to shift our schedules from 1st shift to split 2nd or even 3rd shifts to avoid paying us OT even though we are hired as 1st shift. Bonuses have been cut in half the last 3 years for bogus reasons and the engineer in the field has no life, always working in the evenings and missing dinners and weekends with the family. I didn’t sign on for this and they are making a ton of money off these new extended hours contracts for the customers but only willing to pay us a measly 7-12% shift difference for not seeing our families. Their business model since the company split healthcare off into its own business is to create change for the sake of change. We received weekly emails about new people hired into upper management with job descriptions that left us wondering what they were actually doing, made up job titles with no real purpose. Yet in the field managers are not allowed to create new positions even though the installed base grows yearly, as a result customers are frustrated when we don’t show up in a timely manner due to not having enough bodies in the field. That is all you are to Siemens, a warm body expected to do more work but with less support. The service laptop, called the EVO, is unreliable and too small, it is actually a tablet with a flimsy detachable vinyl keyboard. All these new managers hired create bogus training for us to take to justify to their V.P.’s they are doing something, but we are the ones who must waste valuable time doing this training. They even had a training last year about how to properly sleep and take a nap, even telling us what the proper amount of time is for a restful nap, seriously you can’t make this stuff up. Siemens switched over their shipping logistics to a new company in 2021 and it is a nightmare, parts don’t ship, customers are furious, we are the ones left holding the bag and have to deal with the irate customers that their equipment is down and we have no parts to install. What was once a great company to call home is now just a corporate behemoth unresponsive to their customers or employees needs. So sad and shame on you to the President of healthcare North Americas, you have destroyed a once great organizations. Siemens just terminated every one who wouldn’t get the poke in the arm, employees who have dedicated 20+ years to this company have been fired over a shot that doesn’t even prevent the disease. What a loyal bunch, NOT!
