Pros
Receiving a paycheck is the #1 best thing about working for Signet Maritime. Keep in mind that you WILL WORK HARD for this paycheck and it will cost you both mentally and physically. The benefits are fair. Another pro is that it probably will not be too many more years before Signet is bought out and reorganized.
Cons
I must be frank when describing my experience with working with Signet Maritime. If you can, unless there are no other options, stay away from this drain. If you must accept employment with this company, please prepare yourself and anyone involved in your life to become acquainted with some degree of unhappiness. The owners of the company, a husband and wife team, are VERY passionate people. Passionate about owning their employees, critizing employees in very juvenile ways (weight, clothing), and maintaining a false image. There is no substance here, no good core. My advice is to better yourself by choosing to gain experience at a legitimate company. There are career and advancement opportunities- unfortunately, most advancement is due to the high employee turnaround rate. Work/Life Balance- Do not expect this to be a concept.
