Pros

The philosophy love is greater than fear is great. They allow time for vacations with no questions, Great floor nurses, Great Caregivers.

Cons

The staff resident ratio that they advertise is false. The caregivers/floor nurses are over worked and unappreciated. There are no advancement opportunities for the floor nurses. Call offs run rampant there by the caregivers with no regard to the staff that actually show up to work. The open door and confidentiality policy is laughable. If you make a complaint the retaliation is denied but well noted (have seen great employees lose their jobs shortly following a complaint against administrative staff members). The training/orientation is not good due to so many call-offs the management team has to put a new employee with NO experience on the floor just to prevent them from getting their hands dirty. The staff is taught that the" customer" (family members of residents) is always right. The non administrative staff is often treated poorly by the" customers" but in order to keep a bed occupied, they prefer that even though treatment is less than that of a feral animal, that you smile and allow your self worth be stomped into the ground.

Silverado Response

Thank you for posting your review. At Silverado, we have ratios that far exceed industry averages and state requirements. We are a leaders in memory care because we have licensed nurses on the floor 24-hours a day to administer medication and monitor our residents. Most other companies rely on medication technicians. We provide a higher number of caregivers on the floor as well. We regularly took to hire staff that has the heart, passion and commitment to serve our residents, especially those with memory-impairing diseases. We would welcome any thoughts or suggestions you may have to help get the word out so we can continue to build a world-class team. Please contact Human Resources or leave a message on our associate hotline with your suggestions.

Pros

Very meaningful and rewarding work helping families through one of the hardest transitions in life. The role truly allows you to make a difference and positively impact residents and families every day. Supportive team environment with leadership that understands the emotional side of the work. During a difficult personal time when my grandfather was dying, the company was incredibly supportive and allowed me the time I needed to be at his bedside with my family. It is truly a blessing to be part of Silverado. The work we do changes lives by giving families the opportunity to be family again while knowing their loved one is being cared for with compassion, dignity, and support.

Cons

The work can be emotionally heavy at times because you build close relationships with residents and families who are going through difficult situations. However, the support from the team and leadership helps make those challenges manageable.
