Pros

Free lunches, the mill is cool, most co-workers are truly enjoyable.

Cons

Management. All of it. Hiring more and more folks, spending money on ridiculous seminars, hokey management methodologies, guest speakers, etc, then laying off everyone that left the last 30 positive reviews in one fell swoop, just weeks after a push for reviews. All to make a recruiting video flaunting the 4.9 Star Glassdoor ratings.

We appreciate critical reviews that allow us to better ourselves and the way we run and grow Skipio. However, we would like to offer clarification regarding various points you brought up. First, we do not require employees to leave reviews, nor do we influence or incentivize employees to do so. We do follow Glassdoor’s recommendation and “encourage employees to leave honest reviews" on Glassdoor. As a part of this, we periodically remind employees to leave reviews if they previously haven’t. Second, our marketing department did indeed use a high Glassdoor rating in a recruitment video with zero knowledge that a layoff was around the corner. The timing of the release of that video was unfortunate, especially when this company shift was heartbreaking and difficult for everyone involved. Third, building on employee strengths, inviting speakers, and holding seminars and team building activities is not only a very important part of Skipio but also a big part of many other companies striving to create great culture. We’re sorry to hear that you did not find those experiences valuable. We hope to create more fulfilling experiences for employees in the future and appreciate your feedback on this matter. Finally, the Skipio management team collectively spent hundreds of hours writing recommendations, editing resumes, and reaching out to their personal networks to try to place every single individual that was affected by the layoffs. As of right now, 100% of those employees have jobs. We love our past and current employees and only wish them the best as they pursue their goals now and in the future.

Pros

Good work-life balance with unlimited pto.

Cons

This company has gone through MULTIPLE cycles of layoffs and rehiring, with little stability or clear direction. Leadership frequently shifts priorities and the organization struggles to commit to a consistent vision. As a result, teams are built up only to be dismantled again. It feels like a constant reset with no real progress. If you're looking for long-term growth or stability, this is not the place for you! The company still operates like a startup and hasn’t found a way to mature beyond that phase.
