Pros

I've been working for SkyWest for 3 years now. I thought I would be here for 6 months and move on to another airline with bigger planes and international routes. I can't express how much I love this company. The first year is really hard to adjust to. It's a crazy, demanding schedule with poor pay. However, if you can make it past your first year, it's an incredible job! After 2 years, I was able to get the schedule that takes 20+ years at a legacy airline to achieve. I love my job and would recommend it over any other airline. We are the happiest group of flight attendants in the industry!

Cons

Small airplanes that service smaller cities. We only do Mexico and Canada as international destinations. You can visit exotic locations with your benefits on your off days. However, most working overnight cities are pretty boring in small-town-USA.

Pros

Pay is horrible for almost everyone at headquarters. At poverty level starting pay and on a fixed raise scale that gives $.10 or $.20 per year. Not what you would expect for a large company like this. It is also inconsistent. How is HDQ Maintenance able to give $3 overrides but not other departments? There is always turnover since the pay is so low so it is actually costing the company more than if they just gave decent raises. And everyone gets the same raise so there is no incentive to work harder. Management is inconsistent: they don’t enforce policy for some employees, let some work remote but not others, let remote employees slack off while they watch their kids or have other jobs on the clock, and create part-time jobs for people they like.

Cons

The CEO does not show integrity: holding a plane for his daughter and then bumping a first class passenger for her. Adding his son as an intern so he can get flight benefits (hasn’t worked here a day). He makes millions while underpaying everyone else.
