Pros
One of the best products I've ever seen. The technology is super exciting, there's nothing else like it in the market today. The technology presents countless use cases to make industry and military operation safer. This technology could definitely save lives and transform how business is done.
Cons
Extremely immature business, very poor internal structure, difficulties with: logistics, operations, manufacturing, support. Skydio grew too fast and didn't focus on actually building out the foundational process that businesses need to survive. Most of the internal tracking is run on google sheets. Delivery of purchased software is entirely manual. Company leadership doesn't take employee experience into consideration. Employees are expected to work extreme hours and continually take on more work, but compensation isn't raised equivalently. In addition to that, the preference is for employees to take on additional manual tasks instead of using software to automate tasks. The company is highly focused on customer acquisition, but puts little effort into customer retention. Skydio doesn't use it's historical data to project customer lifetime value, they only see the value in marketing and selling to new customers. As a company that has clear genius behind it (the only company in the world to invent autonomous flying robots with an unparalleled level of sophistication) it is incredibly surprising to see how poorly the sausage is made. How do you invent autonomous flying systems but not use standard business automations to run your company?
