Pros

1. Work life balance 2. Very smart and experienced professionals 3. Annual company retreat 4. FaceTime with leadership. Within a practice area it's relatively flat so it's very common for the most junior consultant to be transparent with the director or MD 5. Leadership actually listens to the feedback that you provide and most of the time will only staff you on a project that you agree to be on 6. Much less bureaucratic than the big four 7. Cell phone and transit expenses subsidized. (It's a local consulting model!)

Cons

1. Staff aug projects - this is case by case but I believe leadership is fully aware and making efforts to move towards true consulting work 2. PTO is improving but needs to be better since it includes any time off such as sick days and we have fewer holidays than the competition and even many of our clients 3. Deals with the same problems as our big 4 competitors that can lead to a negative stigma of companies hiring consultants. For example, having an office wide focus on increasing and measuring utilization and placing utilization targets, hence creating a vested interest for consultants to bill more hours. Perhaps the right answer to increasing utilization is restructuring how we sell work, or finding the appropriate work to sell, rather than asking consultants to "work" (Bill) more hours

This is John Tobin. Thanks for your review. I like your suggestions in looking for and selling the type of work that we want - and this will help our consultants have the right number of billable hours. I think our consultants are often in the best position to help us realize what those opportunities at a given client and it's this type of feedback the leaders / sellers of the office need to hear - so I'm hoping you share these thoughts with your local leaders. It's a great point about diversifying our office wide events and I hope you raise your hand to help impact those events - admittedly, I think we need those reminders to get others to organize them and make them as inclusive as possible. Also, feel free to contact me and schedule a time to chat about any of this - johnt@slalom.com. If you have more feedback that you'd like to share anonymously, please complete this short survey at any time: http://slalom.ws/anonsurvey. Thanks.

Pros

people are very kind and its a great network to then have for life

Cons

I had 5 managers in 4 years, 3 of which promised me a promotion which I never got I was strung along in a seperate global team for a year and a half and then when I finally was moved to that group they fired 80% of us it's now an up or out company and people are leaving faster than business is coming in, that's been happening for 2 yrs my mental health was so bad i had two burnouts in a single year my last manager emotionally abused me and made me feel like i was a terrible person. I left believing that was why I was fired until i chatted with another former employee of this manager work life balance WAS a thing and in the last two years it's now that consultants are also responsible for selling, travel is a non-negotiable but expectations for travel are not transparent and can impact your yearly review, straight up not enough work and then senior management will make you feel bad for it
