The onboarding there is awful. No one knows a new hire is coming until the day they start, which makes everyone who holds a similar position feel like their job is at stake (this is by design as this place values competitiveness over collaboration). Once hired the job duties will be different than what was mentioned during the interview process, leaving everyone uncertain of what should actually be done and who is responsible. When you do start having a better idea of your job, you’ll realize you don’t have access to any of the tools or information required to make you successful. After all of this, you’ll have upper management check in and ask why you haven’t accomplished anything. That’s a quick summary of your first 30 days. Once you start to figure out the politics of the office (there are many) and actually get to do some work, something will happen (an upset customer, a lost sale, etc) and you’ll get thrown under the bus for not doing something that you were never informed was part of your duties. People there are quick to throw someone under the bus to save themselves, it’s not because they’re mean people, it’s because that’s how this environment groomed them to behave. It’s a mess. Directors are hired and their subordinates are told not to give them any information. You’ll receive a verbal approval, but nothing can move forward without an approval via email (and goooood luck getting that). Customers are often upset because of delayed implementations, which are often delayed because developers offshore are slammed with work. Projects , and change requests, are placed in priority based on how upset customers are, so for those projects who had detailed plans in place; your project will now be delayed due to other projects inefficiencies (sorry!). No matter what you do, how many loop holes you find, how many late night calls with India you have; it is never enough. This place will make you think you’re bad at your job .
