Pros

This company is involved in extremely complex projects. And they are hard workers. I have been with them for several years, since it was a small operation. They are now in many different countries and the company has grown significantly. Very interesting projects. I have met here some of the brighest people I've met in my life. It's a young company. Most of management is under 40. Pay is good, above market. And they have some incentives like a year bonus (sometimes up to 30% of your yearly pay, depending on your ). In some offices they have free massage for employees, also yoga classes, not to mention free cappuccinos. It's a really cool environment. Because of the type of business, ethics is very stressed, and you are expected to comply with very strict business ethics rules.

Cons

The going is very, very tough. The business they are involved in is not for the faint of heart. I have seen very bright people who couldn't cope with it and had to leave (or couldn't deliver and were fired). Projects are complex and employees are expected to work against objectives and customer deliverables. If you want a 9-to-5 job this is definitely not a company you should work for. You are expected to travel a lot (in any customer-facing position), and you will not be given several weeks' notice to prepare for travel. It hasn't been uncommon for my boss to tell me "we need you tomorrow in Nepal (or Brazil or England or Mexico) tomorrow for a week".

Pros

In my life, I have had many professional successes, but in none of the major multinational companies where I worked did I stay for more than five years. However, I was with Smartmatic for thirteen!!! That's quite a record, and that already says a lot…. Smartmatic captivates you from the moment you step in, and especially from the moment you participate in your first electoral project. That’s where you really see the heart of the organization. You get to know the passion and dedication of its people, in good times and not so good times, in sleepless nights to ensure nothing goes wrong, sweating it out together, no matter the level—from the President to the tester, working hand in hand. And that hand-in-hand approach, that passion for carrying out an election with excellence and integrity, is what makes Smartmatic and its people different and incomparable. My thirteen years with them were unforgettable. I not only learned about electoral solutions (which I knew nothing about since my world was Telecommunications), but I also learned about the nobility of its people, the importance of each team member in bringing democracy to the most remote places, in the most complicated logistical circumstances, with the pressure that the election day does not change, and with the assurance that it will be brought forward against all odds. It was a pride to have led their supply chain for all these years, and they will remain in my heart forever.

Cons

Media exposure, false news attack
