      Pros

      In my experience I have learned more a bout Environmental than i ever knew before and I love it. Managers have a lot to do with that. Pay is good, and the opportunities are great. If you are interested in a career at Smithfield Packing, management will help you get there. Community involvement is great. Environmental issues are handled promptly.

      Cons

      The only downside that i see with the company is that they don't want to spend the money to put enough people, or (the right people) in our department. When one person is out there is no one to take their place and the Supervisor has to do the job along with their own job. That results in not a lot of time for family or to take care of business matters.

      I am fairly certain that leadership has been reading these reviews and instead of resolving problems decided to take away the good things too. The end goal must be to make this place as miserable as possible for employees in the hopes of keeping stakeholders happy. Vacation was decreased starting in 2026 (with no carry-over). People continue to disappear month after month since the second half of 2024. Still no planning for work coverage. Employee Resource Groups are being halted at least temporarily. People commented that the pay is good. Well that's being cut and if you are on the upper end of your range, no annual increases for you no matter how well you perform. Other things to look forward to for 2027- 401k contribution decreases Annual bonus decreases After all that, what's left?
