Pros
I come with extensive work experience in big corporate giants. Right from the time, I applied, the recruitment process has been excellent. I had 3 rounds of phone interview one with the recruiter, the hiring manager and then another technical round of technical interview with a very senior principal software engineer in the organization. After which I was invited for an onsite interview wherein I was interviewed by very experienced panel of senior members including my hiring manager, chief architect of the product and SVP. The interview was very technically intensive which is quite expected of any software company. They made the interview process exceptionally smooth. It was very well organized and very well co-ordinated at every step. There was absolutely no delays in any aspect. They moved to the offer level decision very quickly which was a very good one that I accepted. Another great point about this company, HR department is not called as HR, but it is called People. This gives a personal touch and the company does not treat people as commodities which most companies do. Employees are treated with high respect and as humans and a considered the most valuable asset of the organization. It has a great open culture. Even the CEO does not have a special office. He sits right next to his executive assistants and anybody can approach any person in the organization as it has a open door approach. People are very friendly and very understanding. Especially newcomers like me will start to feel right at home right from the beginning. All the people are always available to help out in every possible way. My manager drives an excellent team building culture by driving the point at every step of the way. My manager is very understanding and knows exactly how to induct a person into the organization by keeping in mind the employees' personal and professional needs in the best possible way and channeling the strengths of his team in the right direction. Right on the first day of my joining, every thing was setup including my MAC notebook with my desk space with desk having a very nice automatic height adjusting feature with just a press of a button with no hard work required. My mentor introduced me to many colleagues in the organization so that I could understand as to whom to contact when I have specific questions. Whenever I have any doubts, people address all the questions very patiently and they don't brush somebody off. My HR (actually People) manager spent a valuable 2 hour discussion explaining all aspects of the company culture, benefits and its values. In my previous experience with other companies, I never had seen HR take so much of personal interest in well being of their employees. I was very much amazed at that. In fact, I don't even remember having such a face to face personal discussion with any of my previous HR managers. Another very interesting aspect of this organization is that Engineering, QA, Product Management and Sales team work in a close knit manner thus everyone knows exactly what is happening on the product. Thus engineering knows the problems the customers are facing and can work proactively to add new enhancements or address their problems with a quick turnaround. The kitchen is fully stocked all the time with all kinds of foods and soft drinks, fruit juices, coffee and tea of many varieties to suit all people taste. They have 2 days of catered food available and friday has a happy hour (called as snappy hour) with special kind of snacks and drinks. It offers excellent medical, dental and vision benefits. People in the company are very open to suggestions and willing to change for good in every possible way. One of the greatest aspect I liked about the company is its core values which are Innovation, Integrity and Intensity. The company is always willing to take risks and accepts the fact the failures are the stepping stone to success. There is no office politics of any kind which is a great plus as everyone is treated with great respect which is very rarely seen in companies today.
