If only Snowshoe cared - Anonymous employee Snowshoe Mountain Employee Review

Oh, there are so many. First, if the job you have requires more hours than they are willing to pay you for and you happen to be the kind of person who cares, you WILL end up working for free. Resort management continually makes bad decisions about everything (for example they spend MANY thousands of dollars per year on this very expensive fancy photographer from California but so far this summer they have cancelled at least 2 events (I would guess because of budget), leaving last weekend with beautiful weather and an empty resort). Also, you will have pill-head coworkers who don't show up for work, leaving you to take up the slack, but again the resort needs bodies so there are no consequences for it. On the other hand, if you are hung over and want to stay home go ahead! You won't lose your job! The resort is understaffed, there is no room for professional growth here (so if you want to be a server for the rest of your life by all means, come and live here), the CEO is a puppet who's strings are pulled by a big corporation who doesn't give a crap about anything but making money, and oh yeah, recreational opportunities in the summer??? Good luck with that - the resort is only open 4 days per week and if you work here you will be working all 4 of those days. In the winter sure, you'll have time off to ski. Have fun waiting in a 45 minute lift line and getting run over by all the gapers who come here to the VERY overcrowded and dangerous slopes. I guess you can tell by now that I don't like or have very much respect for Snowshoe. I suppose it is a good place to work if you've never had a job or haven't worked for an employer who sees you as more than just a monkey. Let me be clear: this place COULD be awesome with a few changes (notice I didn't say pay raises) but no one cares enough to bother trying.
