Pros

- Talented and dedicated colleagues: Despite the challenges faced at Snyk, I had the privilege of working alongside a group of highly skilled and hardworking individuals. - Competitive compensation and benefits: Snyk offered a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.

Cons

I joined Snyk with high hopes, but my experience turned out to be extremely disappointing. It is with a heavy heart that I write this review, hoping to shed light on the concerning practices and challenges I encountered during my time there. It was disheartening to witness talented individuals being let go, right after a hiring frenzy and all while the company continued to post job openings and recruit new hires. This kind of inconsistency and lack of transparency left many of us feeling undervalued and uncertain about the future. To exacerbate matters, Snyk's hiring process was deeply flawed. People were being brought on board only to be let go less than a week later. It was evident that little thought had been given to the long-term goals or the talent required to achieve them. This lack of foresight and inefficient utilization of resources not only wasted the time and effort of those who were hired and subsequently let go, but it also contributed to a chaotic work environment. Not to mention the impact on the lives of these individuals who left their previous jobs and join Snyk, only to find themselves unemployed within a mere week. Considering that one of the purported company values is to "Care deeply," it would be reasonable to expect higher standards from the leadership team. These hiring issues were a direct result of a complete absence of strategic planning within Snyk. It seemed as if the company was constantly shifting its priorities, making it difficult for employees to understand the broader vision and align their work accordingly. The absence of a well-defined strategy resulted in wasted efforts, frequent pivots, and a general sense of confusion among the teams. In conclusion, my time at Snyk was marred by numerous issues that ultimately overshadowed any potential for growth or job satisfaction. The company's haphazard approach to layoffs, inconsistent hiring practices, lack of strategic direction, and problematic management style all contributed to an overwhelmingly negative experience. I sincerely hope that Snyk takes these concerns seriously and undertakes the necessary steps to rectify these issues for the sake of its employees and future success. Until that happens, I strongly recommend individuals considering joining Snyk to negotiate a substantial severance package and potentially a generous hiring bonus before accepting any offer. This will help safeguard against the unfortunate possibility of being let go shortly after joining the company. For those currently employed at Snyk, I urge you to seriously contemplate transitioning to a company that demonstrates a more structured management style.

Snyk Response

Thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed review of your time at Snyk. I’m glad to hear you worked with some talented people and felt our total rewards package was competitive. I understand your concerns around both hiring and the reorganization that unfortunately involved the roles of many great people to be transitioned or eliminated. I assure you that a lot of time, effort, and attention goes into deciding both the roles we hire for and the individuals who ultimately get offers.Similar to many other companies we have had to pivot in some areas in response to the economic conditions and a refinement of our business strategy, ultimately resulting in the lose of roles for some of Snykers. Rest assured we don’t take these decisions lightly and do all we can to support our Snykers during these difficult transitions. I am sorry we did not have the opportunity to speak with you while you were here, but appreciate your candid feedback and will share this with our team. - Sandy Mott, VP Talent Business Partnering

Pros

Product is simple to learn Most of the people are wonderful

Cons

No career opportunities - whatever position/salary you get hired at is the end of your journey. I am pretty sure I saw less than 4 TSMs get promoted in my entire time there. Beyond toxic internal systems - Sales teams completely control your life/career, whatever you are imagining isn't half of how bad it gets. No vision at all - I had 4 different direct managers, 3 different directors and all but a handful of C-suites ran for the hills. Clearly no one knows what to do with the company. Product - Its honestly a wonderfully polished turd. Snyk looks really good at first, then you realize it barely does SCA/SAST, DAST is good but thats only because they acquired it. Their AI tooling... half baked would imply someone at least thought about putting it in the oven. Layoffs - Didn't impact me, but clearly investors want their money and only hope is to gut the company.
