Pros

Soar is a great place to work because it stands out against other ABA companies due to its authenticity and organization. Jen and Ian really have put deep care and compassion into this company and it shows. I’ve heard horror stories from people working at other ABA companies over lack of organization, forcing kids to learn, and just overall stress, but working here is the complete opposite of that. Don’t get me wrong, it has its room for improvement, but even then there are tons of opportunities to communicate about what can be done to make the work environment better. The kids are amazing and as are all of my supervisors I’ve ever had at Soar. They are so patient, so willing to help, always ready to jump in, and always offering their best advice and mentorship. I’ve never had a complaint about any of our BCBA’s, PCs, OTs, SLPs or trainers. Truly, we have the best of the best for each of these jobs. Also, my peer RBTs are so kind, really passionate about what they do, so creative and talented, and such great team players. I’ve also never had a complaint about any of my co workers. The culture here is really great that include things like team outings, booyah bucks for gift cards at team meetings, fun team meetings, potluck and themed days, and true care and compassion for each other overall. Truly, there isn’t much to complain about at Soar. If you’re an RBT, especially if you’re just starting out as one, this is the place to go!

Cons

There are some places for improvement here, but are kind of general things that just come with the gig. For example, if you haven’t worked with kids with disabilities, or haven’t worked with kids much at all, I would start part time and work your way to being comfortable at being full time. They will give you a full days worth of clients almost right away, so if you’re not mentally and physically prepared for that, this can be overwhelming. Also, our breaks system could be better. Currently, we have a break buddy that you’re assigned to each two hour block, and you find them and give each other breaks. This works for the most part for me personally, but I’ve heard about a lot of struggle with it. It can be challenging when your client doesn’t want to go to the same place as the other person and their client, one is eating and the other is not, or you just can’t seem to match up your schedule. This could be improved in some way, I think. But it works mostly. Other than that I would just say the job is a demanding job that calls for consistency, attention to detail, and communication. But this goes for working at any ABA company. If you struggle with these things, and/or struggle with thinking of resolutions quickly, I would maybe consider a different path. This is all you do, all day, and its important. Also, you have to have personal mental health and physical health routines of self-care. You need ways to constantly be recharging and taking care of yourself or you will get exhausted mentally and physically. Like I said, this is more of a general warning of working at any ABA company, not specific of Soar.

Hi there, Thank you so much for providing your feedback! We completely understand the concerns raised around our break process. We are glad to hear that the break schedule works in most cases! I hear the concerns regarding aligning clients to the same activity. Our goal with our current process is to be able to provide consistent breaks on a regular basis for our team members in a way that aligns with our current scheduling system. We are continuing to look at and refine this process. In the meantime, thank you for your feedback and patience! We appreciate your work greatly and so do our clients! Warmest Regards, Soar Autism Center People Team

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you found leadership supportive, especially when navigating complex cases, and that the ongoing training opportunities were valuable during your time at Soar. We also understand that a fast-paced environment with frequent change can be challenging. As Soar continues to grow and improve how we serve children and families, we know it is important to support team members through change with clear communication, thoughtful planning, and strong leadership presence. We appreciate the time you spent with Soar and are grateful for the care you provided to the children and families we serve.

Pros

Flexibility in the team was nice (no longer an option), diverse clients, integrated health model, iPads, play-based, ESDM, good training/hiring model.

Cons

Big corporation in autism care! Corporations are a business at the end of the day, and care can get diluted.
