Pros
1. Location: the office is located conveniently in Playa Vista. 2. Experience: you will work in a start-up without funding. This means, you have to be extremely resourceful to succeed. You will not be provided with the tools that you may be used to. This is a great experience to see what the start-up world can be like and to determine what you want and don't want out of your next job. 3. Exposure: this is an extremely small team. The benefit of this is that you will work closely with VPs across multiple teams. 4. Lack-of-bureaucracy: since the team is small, you won't have to deal with layers of approvals. If necessary, things move very fast.
Cons
1. Internet Connection: Even though this is a professional SaaS business, the company operates on a 100mbps connection and a for-home-use router for 30 in-office candidates. Before many complaints were filed to the management team, the company operated on 30mbps internet. Yes, you can expect daily internet outages as Social Annex does not have a business-level internet program. 2. Product: There is nothing innovative about Social Annex's solutions. They have copied niche solutions that have existed for years and put them under one roof. Unfortunately, the customer value proposition does not fulfill any immediate business need. Thus, the product is extremely difficult to sell. 3. Market: There is no demand for any Social Annex solutions. In fact, since Social Annex solutions are not a necessity for any business, like SEM, SEO, banners, retargeting, etc. is, a budget is never allotted. This is considered a "luxury product" that is nice to have if all other marketing needs have been fulfilled, but there never has been and never will be a compelling reason to allocate budget towards this. Social Annex and its 300 competitors have already tapped the market dry. 4. Pay and benefits: The pay is extremely low, and benefits are non-existent. You may be tied to a performance contract which you will never work yourself out of. Almost everyone that has worked at Social Annex has taken a large pay cut. 5. CEO: As mentioned by countless other reviews, the CEO is a micromanager. This is his creation, and he has had a very difficult time relinquishing control over departments to other VPs. It is usually his way or the highway. Unfortunately, any change that needs to be made to the company is met with arguments and hostility from the CEO. This has been taxing for everyone that has ever worked under him. He is an argumentative bottleneck. 6. Turnover: There is an extremely high turnover rate at this company, and there have been a few mutinies mounted against the CEO. Recently, there were lay offs, and the one positive to the company, the new CRO, quit. 7. Culture: there is no "longterm" aspect to this company. There is no growth potential in your role. 8. Technology: this is not a technology-first / data first company. They do no have a business intelligence team that constantly analyzes data to strengthen their solutions. In fact, ROi is not trackable for most of their solutions. 9. Competition: the competition specializes in one solution instead of Social Annex's six. Due to this, they are masters of that one solution. Social Annex is not a master in any one solution.
