Pros

SI offers lots of opportunities to learn new skills and work with a variety of people, most of whom are extremely hard working, collaborative, and great at what they do. Junior staff especially have a lot of opportunity to grow and take on technical work as they show interest and competence to do so. I believe senior management have shown a genuine desire to better balance staff workloads and connect people to projects that interest them, and they have implemented a variety of measures to make that happen. That doesn't mean those measures always work, but the intent is sincere, and it's an ongoing effort. I feel my manager truly cares about me and my happiness and growth at the company. The overall staff are very friendly and collaborative, and there are often social events. Staff often praise each other's hard work publicly through weekly company-wide and divisional forums, bonuses are typically offered annually for excellent work, and the company offers annual cash prize rewards for excellence. Overall it has been a wonderful place to work!

Cons

As a consulting firm that takes on whatever clients pitch in an RFP, some of the evaluations we have to design and manage can be frustrating or seemingly pointless. The nature of this business is that you're often stuck working late nights and extra hours on a deadline, sometimes chasing silly client demands, and sometimes working on sectors that aren't of interest to you.

Pros

The name of the company leads people to believe it is an impactful place to work for. It's not.

Cons

The new administration shut down nearly all work at SI because of the way they handled USAID. There is a skeleton staff now, but the good workers have moved on.
