Pros

Given that their program assistants, associates, and managers worked an incredible amount of hours, interns were given huge responsibilities. So we learned a lot and got to leave while permanent employees were stuck with their contracts late into the night. It was a young office, so they got away with it. If everyone was in their 40s, they would have had to pay significantly more. Great contracts to build contacts in the international development field.

Cons

There's an obvious in-crowd--you know normal office politics. Every single employee seemed overworked and unhappy with work-life balance.

Pros

The name of the company leads people to believe it is an impactful place to work for. It's not.

Cons

The new administration shut down nearly all work at SI because of the way they handled USAID. There is a skeleton staff now, but the good workers have moved on.
