BA - Benefit Authorizer Social Security Administration Employee Review

Pros

Can wortk credit hours; decent pay

Cons

I have worked here for over 20 years: - Promotions are based on (a) if a family works (or worked) in the building, (b) you are friends with a manager, (c) you clear cases off a list, even if it is done wrong. - If you haven't had a promotion in 5 years, you never will. - All excess work loads are dumped on the Benefit Authorizers - Mgmt asks for ways to improve the system, then immediately gives you reasons why the improvements can'tbe done - Leave requests are not done on a true seniority basis - it is done on a "roster system". The list was recently re-ordered and based by seniority, however, a 2-year employee can still bump a 30-year employee.

Pros

flexibility, teleworking, pay, and holidays off cool work environment.

Cons

Everything's on a quota, heavy workload, dealing with irritated claimants—it's not really a legal job.

Being trained on all the different case types processed by the position. The organization offers flex time.

Cons

It is a difficult job to learn all aspects of case processing promptly.
