Pros

Great chance to get your foot in the door of a company that is trying (at least by whay we are being told) to move our country to renewable energy. Many of the people that work here are took the job because it they believe in solar energy and the future potential positive impact it may have on our planet

Cons

During the interview process, the job description is you work in Home Depot and Best Buy and approach customers and inform them of the options of going solar and set an appointment for another team to run. We were told that the average FES gets at least 35-40 appointments per month that result in average of 10-15 CW's (closed sales ) per month, this can result in a fair commission on every sale made. The biggest issue is that the CW is not in your control. It is the FEC team that runs the appointments you set. if they don't run the appointment, or get the customer to take advantage of the offer, you don't get a commission. *The FES team generates a massive amount of appointments, and the FEC team only sells 1:13, not 1:3 as told during the interview *Your job even though it is to set appointments, is in danger because of the FEC team not closing 5 sales per month for you. (this was NOT discussed during the interview) * some of the locations here have a massive amount of customers that have a power supplier that you CANNOT offer a program to 8:10, so you beat your head against the wall all day speaking to people that you cant help or set an appointment for. *you are informed that there is a CW quota (not discussed during the interview, your job is to get appointments and as a natural result, the CW just fall into play again, you have no control over the other team getting these CW, but some of our teammates have been put on notice due to a lack of CWs... odd right?) * the commission structure i was hired under has just been altered, instead of getting paid for every CW, the FEC team now needs to close 5 before you make a dime! this is a 40% cut in commission. *lead generation teams historically are paid for the appointment, paid when the appointment is run, and paid when it closes, they don't face the chopping block when the sales team doesn't come through. *I like my job but keeping it has little to do with my abilities, only the abilities of the FEC teams ability to get the CW

Pros

Just to quantify my review a bit, I am within the top 10% of inside sales reps within our 12,000 person company. It is a great place to work and people doing well ARE able to make good money here. The executive team ALWAYS has a platform for reps to help make SolarCity a better place every quarter. They involve the top 20 reps each quarter in various ways to help their peers through an interactive group called Team Elite. Executives, VP's, Directors, and Managers are always willing to help and go to bat when there are issues with things that need to be fixed. The direction of the company is consistent and although the company is large, decision makers work as hard as possible to steer the big ship quickly when necessary.

Cons

Knee jerk reactions with decision making at a director level create issues from time to time. Culture has had its ups and downs due to HUGE growth last year and subsequent high attrition rates.
