Management is a total joke - Sales Representative SolarWinds Employee Review

Pros

Management is so incompetent that you can do anything you want because no one knows what’s going on. Sales job where you sell a highly technical product and there’s no expectation to actually know the products. Great if you’re a half wit sales rep, which SolarWinds hires lots of.

Cons

Quota setting is egregiously unfair across the floor. Management will say quotas were set using account spend and then not be able to explain why someone with your exact same spend got a 100K less quota. That difference being whether you make any bonuses or attain at a respectable level. When questioned, upper management will brush it off and start lying about the way quota was set just to confuse you so you don’t probe more. Upper management has proven vastly incapable of making decisions until it’s too late. VP’s and Directors hide in their offices all day and have little interaction with reps. Which makes so that they never have their finger on the pulse with business and customers. So they continually do outdated, detrimental sales practices. Going back to my other point, NO one is paying attention anyways so these highly paid “leaders” continually go year after year like this.

Pros

Amazing office space in Charlotte with a strong emphasis on work-life balance. There are plenty of social events and networking opportunities that help employees stay engaged and build relationships across different business units. The recent IT reorganization has created a unique opportunity to participate in system and process design initiatives. While this level of change and transformation may not appeal to everyone, it offers valuable experience for those who enjoy shaping new processes and driving organizational improvements. I am optimistic about the direction of the organization and confident in the vision and leadership of the new IT management team.

Cons

Career advancement opportunities can sometimes feel limited within a satellite office environment, and promotion paths are not always clearly defined. Employees seeking long-term growth may benefit from having proactive career development conversations with leadership. The recent IT reorganization has introduced a period of transition, resulting in some uncertainty and lower morale across parts of the organization. The department is currently in a rebuilding phase, and new employees should expect to contribute to the implementation of new processes, systems, and ways of working. Compensation appears to be somewhat below market rates for certain roles, which may be a consideration for candidates prioritizing salary growth.
