Pros

A lot of good developers now have positions that value them and pay them competitive wages - at other companies. They may be desperate enough to pay significantly over market rates... but I doubt it.

Cons

Don't work for Autopoint or Solera. Break it down for you: 1. They fired half the development staff in South Jordan. 2. They gave worthless contracts to the remainder that promised bonuses and severance after six months to a year, but with a lot of weasel words in the contract that made it easy for them to avoid payment. 3. Part of the contracts required knowledge transfer to an offshore company called Infosys. 4. Infosys is completely and utterly incompetent. 5. Pretty much everyone left after that, stating that they had no confidence in Autopoint/Solera/Vista paying out any of the bonuses or severance. 6. Because of very few raises in the past, most people who left easily found new positions that paid them more than the potential bonuses they left behind. 7. The new CEO quit after just a couple of months on the job. Get the picture? They gutted the South Jordan office to bring development closer to their main office in Dallas, but completely flubbed the transition. Now, any knowledge that was available about the software products walked out the door, and the only people who got trained were offshore contractors who didn't seem to know what the SMEs were talking about in the least. These are the people who will train the developers in Dallas.

Pros

None that I can think of.

Cons

The company has significant issues that make it difficult to recommend as a long-term workplace. HR support is virtually non-existent, leaving employees without meaningful assistance when concerns arise. Favoritism appears to influence decisions more than performance or merit, creating an unfair work environment. There are very few opportunities for career growth, and many employees find themselves in stagnant roles with little chance for advancement. Even when employees consistently exceed expectations and earn recognition, raises are infrequent or nonexistent, making it difficult to feel valued for hard work. Additionally, there is a noticeable lack of professionalism at the management level. Communication, accountability, and leadership standards need significant improvement. Overall, the company would benefit from investing in stronger leadership, a more effective HR department, and a culture that rewards performance fairly.
