Pros
The benefits are very good - 401K, decent health insurance, a lot of independence as you are often the only person in your position on a shift.
Cons
The hours/shifts are long and you pretty much always have to work overnights regularly, like many other positions of this nature. You also don't have a lot of flexibility on how protocols are implemented. Also not much opportunity for career advancement beyond the position.
