Unattainable quotas and fear-based leadership - Anonymous employee Sophos Employee Review

Pros

The product is genuinely strong. Many of the people who work here care deeply about customers and do the right thing despite the environment. That’s what makes this situation so disappointing.

Cons

The culture has been completely destroyed by recent leadership decisions. Sales quotas are unattainable to the point where even strong performers are not making livable wages. At the same time, leadership spends freely on optics like SKO in Dubai which highlights how disconnected executives are from the reality of the field. Communication from senior leadership has become threatening and demeaning. Instead of support, enablement, or accountability at the leadership level, employees are met with ultimatums and threats of PIPs over administrative tasks—while the company openly acknowledges that quotas are not being hit. Teams are left to fend for themselves. Collaboration is gone. Morale is at an all-time low. People are blamed for systemic issues completely outside of their control. Leadership spends more time “defending” poor results in QBRs than addressing why the model is broken. What used to be a great place to work now feels fear-driven, transactional, and exhausting. Many talented people are disengaged, burned out, or actively looking to leave. The saddest part is that none of this is because of the product or the people—it’s because of leadership.
