I worked at Sophos for a short time and I can clearly see the main issues within the company. Managers are given a free hand to treat their subordinates whatever way they like. Unfortunately, in my case it was pathetic experience. My manager expected me to work during the weekends and there was no comp off. Well, they argue that working from home & Doctor's apt compensate for your work during the weekends. The problem is most of the people agree to it and never raise a concern. I discussed this issue with the HR dept while my manager called it "Poisoning the Environment". How can discussing a policy with HR is poisoning? **This is just one issue. ** The attrition rate in the Org is really high. Half of my team was gone in just 6 months after I joined. For a long long time there wasn't any back fill. The interview standards are great but in reality the work is completely sub-standard. I had a feeling that this will be a super exciting opportunity but it wasn't true. If your manager don't like you they would let you go immediately without understanding the impact it can leave on the entire team. Maybe they just want to satisfy their ego rather than thinking about the actual Project work.
