Pros
- It's a paycheck and you get health insurance. - Training is decent (5 weeks long).
Cons
This is going to be a long list. - Work/Life Balance is nonexistent: They say that they encourage you to log out at the end of the day and not worry about work, but send important emails after hours. - Lead quality is horrendous (...and it will ALWAYS be your fault, even though you have no control over it) - Daily morning meetings: You will say the same thing you said yesterday over and over and over. - Hundreds of emails per day, some recapping information you already shared in a meeting that you are required to respond to. - Metrics are primarily based on things that are out of your control and you only get credit toward your quota if the student *actually* starts class and stays in for 2 weeks. - The CRM is TERRIBLE. - They will make you pigeon hole a student into a degree if they say they aren't interested or want something that isn't offered (and if you don't it WILL be held against you in your meetings with upper leadership) - Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Per Start metrics are unreasonable with the current quality of leads. - If you like cold calling leads that are 3+ years old for people who may or may not have wanted to go to school in the first place is fun, then you'll love it here. - Since starting at South, I find it hard to get up in the morning and go to work because I'm reminded daily that it is always my fault that if I'm not living up to the expectations. - Burnout rate is HIGH. - Nepotism is real with upper management. - They WILL micromanage you, don't let them lie to you. - You will be talked down to like you're an insolent child. - Empty motivational speeches encouraging/demanding "150% of your best effort every.single.day. - Monthly and quarterly meetings spotlighting the people that exceeded their goals, while simultaneously talking down to the people who didn't. - Pay Rate: Doesn't even meet the average pay for the area that I live, and it's a struggle. They definitely don't pay enough for what they put you through. - The "what do you do wrong" attitude is suffocating when you don't hit your numbers. I have worked several high-dollar sales positions and worked in the mental health field where I was taking care of children with severe mental health problems (both very high stress environments), and I have never felt as stressed and overwhelmed as I do with this position. I have never felt as disrespected and unmotivated in any other position as I do here. I have never gotten off of work and dreaded going back to sleep because I would have to wake up and go back to work at a place until this job.
