Pros
Company promotes from within and supports associate improvement
Cons
Company focus "People First" doesn't work as implemented. * SN uses an annual review program that forces managers to grade a percentage of their reports as not effective no matter how good the team is. I knew small (3-5 associates) teams who voluntarily rotated who would get the negative rating so each person would eventually receive a tiny 2% increase. I personally volunteered to receive the lowest rating so MY manager could reward an associate who had worked VERY hard to improve and deserved a merit increase for the effort and improvements. HR determines how many 'not effectives' a department would have - not the manager of the department. * in the past 2 years there have been several restructuring events that ripped apart departments and teams, often moving associates into roles/areas they didn't apply for and are not a good fit in. These restructuring events also led to the elimination of some 300+ roles across the company. This company under the current management is NOT people first. * They are currently in the process of being acquired by C&S Wholesale and should anticipate many duplicate roles being eliminated as well.
