Pros
MOST people who work in the company are nice and easy to work with. All the benefits like health care, vacation and sick leave, as well as bonuses are pretty nice. Management in my department is easy to work with and helps with any issues I may have. We do a lot of charity work with the united way; so we have a lot of prizes that can be won in raffles and drawings. There are job advancement opportunities.
Cons
General corporate issues. Like gossip. There's a lot of that at Speedway. You don't get any vacation time until after one year of being with Speedway. The pay is terrible. Like I have a college education, but it doesn't matter. I have to keep a second job even tho I work full time already. It's a little ridiculous. It is very frustrating to try and try and work so hard for so little money. I contemplate the reason I bother anymore. They don't pay what they should. I strongly believe everyone besides the execs who works here is under paid. It's unfair that a multi billion dollar gas company can't pay me enough to feed myself. I don't think they care either. It's basically a slap in the face from the executives and the president of the company. They talk to us like we're beneath them. They don't look us in the eyes, they will literally pass over you like you weren't even standing there. The amount of passive disrespect makes me stomach turn. I don't feel important. They seem to be the only important people and everyone else is useless garbage. It's unfair. I do not like the leadership of this company. Tony Kenny isn't a bad guy but he's too rich to care about his "low life" employees to understand that many of us are struggling to manage. Overall....it is what it is. I think many companies are the same way. But it's frustrating to have gone to school and still be the on the low end. To feel so useless, replaceable. Although I have had worse jobs, this one isn't that bad compared to them, but it certainly is far from good. Any good chance I can get, I will leave this company entirely.
