Pros

The tuition reimbursement is pretty nice. Speedway also produces fantastic retail experience. A store with a great manager promotes awesome relationships with other coworkers and makes it feel like you're apart of a family. Very clean workplace.

Cons

Speedway expects a great deal from their employees. Employees are expected to keep the store clean, embark on long-running cleaning tasks and product management (stocking, dating, rotation, etc) all while helping customers. This is fine and all, except Speedway does not authorize enough hours to make this a reality. In high volume stores, the standards that Speedway sets are unreachable simply because there is not enough help. This causes employees to be stretched thin and creates a very stressful work situation. Managers are stressed and therefore CSRs are stressed. The Speedway Quality Assurance standards have raised, while hours that stores are allowed have dropped. Stores in large numbers have failed the new QA requirements.

Pros

Opportunity for extra hours and overtime. * Fast-paced environment that can help build multitasking and customer service skills. * Team members often worked together to keep the store running despite challenges.

Cons

* Frequent employee call-offs created staffing shortages. * Regularly required to work double shifts to cover staffing gaps. * Management expectations often felt unrealistic given available staffing levels. * Workload was heavily dependent on previous shifts completing their responsibilities. * Tasks were frequently left unfinished by other shifts, creating additional work and stress. * High levels of stress due to understaffing and inconsistent shift performance. * Work-life balance could be difficult because of unexpected extended shifts.
