Pros

- Flexible work hour - Remote - Easy interview process - More engineers than work, so if you want to get pay without having to work more than a few hours a day, then go for it. - Lots of great people

Cons

Interview process: - Even though the interview process is easy, it also seems to be more based on feelings than actual skills. If the manager and/or the team likes you, you'll be hired. If someone doesn't like you then you'll be refused. - I'm not sure what is the purpose of the coding exercise. I have seen people failing and still getting hired and I have seen people doing something amazing and getting refused. Work in general: - They keep hiring a lot of engineers even though there are people complaining about not having enough work to do. - The infra is weak and breaks very often, the backend team is always complaining about getting paged all the time. There is no devops team (yet?). - Managers and Execs are waiting for fires to happen before acknowledging issues. - Nobody really cares about tech debts. - The company has a "no blaming" policy in case of issues (like a PR that ends up causing a prod issue), but that won't prevent a manager to yell and fully blame whoever they can during a 1:1 (without knowing nor caring about what actually happened). - The CTO is micromanaging the entire company by reviewing proposals, which slows down everything as he can take weeks before reviewing them (when he doesn't forget). Gender Equality / Minorities - Borderline on gender equality (even though they promote it a lot) as a manager said: "women have more feelings to deal with than men, and for this reason, they need to be treated differently". - Manager publicly saying "I don't know how to act around women and minorities" (and he really doesn't). Misc: - People seem to be abusing their personal relationships/friendships with managers/execs in order to get what they want. - Lots of people (including execs/managers) are working in noisy places (even remote employees working in public space like a Starbucks) which makes meetings often very painful. Managers/Exec: - Lots of talks, no actions - They care more about their public image than being useful (they keep repeating how much they care about us and how much they love us, but that's only true as long as you don't have any questions/issues). - They are very close-minded with huge egos. If you don't think the same way as them, just don't say anything otherwise they will end up insulting you and telling you they know better without ever providing arguments or counter-arguments. - Some managers try to force their point of views on you by saying things like "if you don't agree with me then you have an ego issue", "If you don't agree with me then we'll have a big issue together and I'll have to take action". Which can basically be resumed to "I have the power, so either you agree with everything I do and say or you're gone". Don't expect a healthy discussion where everyone is using actual arguments, they won't care. They are above you so they know better than you.
