Pros

Pros: -Best middle managers I’ve ever worked for -People really encourage people to speak up in meetings -Most women I’ve ever worked with on an engineering team -Salaries are competitive -You’re actually *encouraged* to use that unlimited PTO

Cons

Cons: -No women in senior leadership at all -VERY few women outside of engineering -Everyone is so caught up in a collaborative, everyone-gets-buy-in mentality that decisions never get made. -Company is bad at learning from past errors in a blameless way. Engineering does retrospectives for incidents but they usually don’t get to the actual origin of incidents or address how to prevent them in the future, so they wind up being pretty pointless. -Tons of procrastination on real tech debt because it’s going to be too involved--there’s a lot of “that would require rebuilding _____.” If you need to rebuild it to make sure it scales, sometimes you need to bite the bullet and do that. -No one has an understanding of dependencies and which teams rely on which other teams for, which usually means that planning work is chaotic and honest but avoidable mistakes happen a lot. -Benefits are not great. Health insurance sucks, especially if you need to see a specialist/any out of network providers -The organization is weirdly hourglass shaped--plenty of senior leadership, very few middle managers, and TONS of individual contributors.
